From my archive

These are two examples of my sculptures over the last twenty-seven years. I change the ones shown here ocassionally.

They are not for sale.

Chunky limestone sculpture based on a welk shell, on a beech wood base

Shell (2)

material: Limestone and spalted beech

size: 350 x 220 x 200 mm. (h x w x d)

finish: wax on the inner surfaces, sealant on the outer surfaces

year: ~ 2017

limestone pierced sculpture, based on a welk shell on beech base

Comment: this was the first time I carved using a specific object as my maquette. The internal section felt quite ambitious and I was pleased it worked. The curved lines on the outer sections were a late addition and seemed to pull it together. The finish was experimental:  I wanted to emmulate the dull outside of the shell and the glossy interior. I was pleased with the result.

Polished thin wooden sculpture with central hole on rosewood base.

Flame (1)

material: balsa wood and rosewood base

size: 300 x 100 x 80 mm (h x w x d) (approx)

finish: wax

year: 1995

Comment: made with some balsa wood I was given, mainly using a knife and a dremel tool. Looking now I feel satisfied with its balance and grace.
